More upgrades or good enough

Hi Guys- Been reading for a long time, but this is my first virgin post. I have a 97 F-250 with several mods. I mainly use it to haul the 5th wheel on vacation, and drive to work once or twice a week. The truck has been virtually trouble free since new. The mods I did really opened her up, but I would like a little more umph when pulling hills. Would you guys recommend a chip? A friend has the superchip, and he really likes it, but I dont want to hurt her. If not a chip, what would you guys recommend I do next?

Hey Catskinner,

Welcome.......As mentioned get a set of gauges and install the pyro probe pre-turbo, I am guessing here that your exhaust includes an aftermarket down pipe Yes...? As it appears you have the 4EOD auto tranny, would look into the "CURE" for better shifting. Do a search on the Cure as some of the guys really like it. I have had two different superchips.....save a bunch of money and get a 4 position chip from Tony Wildman.....rather then waisting a bunch on others THEN going to Wildman....

Where are you located and what final drive ratio do you have, how big, heavy is your 5er.....and what tire size are you running? Depending on your EGT's when towing you may want to install an intercooler as well.

If you are happy with how it runs save your money for fuel. That being said.
With the list in my sig,
I pull my 3 horses GH with LQ (14,000 lbs) on the weekends.
I would recommend gauges. EGT, Trans temp. Don’t worry about a boost gauge in less you are upgrading injectors and a well-programmed chip. Do not get a "off the shelf programmer " The chip I got from swamps Loads the low end with torque and advances the shift points, so your not lugging the motor. The nice part about a switch able chip is you just turn the knob not loading -un loading the program.
upgrading the trans would not hert either.
