Hey guys, I'm working on my electric fuel system and this Dahl 150 hangs down to far if I mount it under the truck, so I am going to put the entire system in my tool box. I was wondering if anyone has done this and if so, did you have any drain back issues. I can install the pump in a position where it will allways be full of fuel but I wonder what will happen when I shut it off. Will it drain back to the fuel tank or will it hold a vacume ?
I could install a anti siphon valve, but I dont want to add restriction. I was going to install my Racor 500 series (60 gph) which should be plenty, but the more I look at the element, I think it to small. It does fit under the truck and only hangs down about 1" below the frame What do you guys think, put everything in the tool box or go with the smaller Racor and mount it on the frame ? It sure would stay nice in the tool box. Thanks Guys
Frank

I don't think your pump will maintain a vacuum. Mine are mounted outside the frame rail and it doesn't take long for all the pressure to bleed off through the pump.

Thanks Rodney, Now that I think about it I believe the Dahl has some sort of check valve in it. If it does then the two foot of hose running down to the selector valve should stay full of fuel (I think) kinda like holding your thumb on the top of a straw. I dont think it will hurt the pump, because it will be full of fuel every time I start it, I just dont want that two foot of hose full of air and have to run it thru the system every time I start it. I guess I can see if I have any air in the filter bowl or put in a piece of clear hose and see if the line stays full. If not I can install a electric valve, I might be looking into this to much, I just want to keep it as simple as possible. Thanks
Frank
