My 1996 E350 Van 7.3L has 620,000 plus, miles on it from the previous two owners
I think I should have posted this in 94 to 97 General 7.3L discussion rather than upgrades and aftermarket. Sorry about that.
I want to use Rotella T 5-40 Full Synthetic oil in it but I'm afraid.
It is parked outside at -20 below to -40 below and -70 and -80 below with the wind chill here in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
It gets almost as cold as Fairbanks, Alaska but not as long a winter and not quite as cold.
I just ordered a 2000 Watt Kim Hotstart for the block drain to heater hose to go along with the factory 1000 Watt block heater and I am also getting battery heaters for both batteries and putting 300 Watt Magnet heaters on the motor oil pan and automatic transmission oil pan.
I also want to put full synthetic gear oil in the rear end.
It's got 620,000 miles on it and you would swear it had less that 100,000 miles on it.
Everything is perfect.
I won't tell you I got it for $850 or actually $700 and $150 to get it 200 miles home.
It's never pulled anything.
It was a bus to haul passengers to the airport in Nebraska, 600 miles a day for the first seven years of it's life and well taken care of by the second owner who put less that 75,000 miles on it the last seven years.
I also need to know what kind of antifreeze to put in it.
Everything is immaculate and I am doing a full service for the winter on it.
It's getting 10 ply 245 75 16 Blizzak W965 Winter Tires next week and I'm putting 1000# of sand bags in the rear of the van. 14x70#each.
Any comments would be well appreciated.
Thank You, Tom
