Nerf bars / A pillar handle

I tried a search and didn't find any info.
I'm looking for some nerf bars and a pillar grab bars so my wife can actually get into my new to me 1994 F350 crew cab, long box 4x4. with the 7.3 Power stroke. Any opinions or tips would be great. Thanks

That looks great. Where did you get the handles from?

I don't believe that is Cary's truck, if you search back there are a few others that have done it,

Excellent. That's part of the equation. I tried the search but for some reason found nothing like that. Thanks

Re: Nerf bars / A pillar handle

as for nerf bars, there are quite a few options including steps. be ware that my steps that bolt up through the edge of the floor have lead to a sagging of the floor away from the door. I would Look for a nerf bar that will attach to the frame!

Re: Nerf bars / A pillar handle

Thanks for the pics. My '96 has grab handles installed already, 2 on the pass side, but my new '97 doesn't have them so I need to add them. My wife has already asked about them. Never thought of using well nuts and washers for spacers......simple.

I've also been searching all over for a good set of running boards with mounts that will fit the OBS, even been searching around here for pics of steps and running boards to see what I like. I'm spoiled, since I really like the contoured factory ones on my S/C '96. So far, I've found Westin nerf bars, but they look like they'll mount a little too high to be easily used as a step. I'm trying to avoid the decision the bite the bullet and spend the $$$ on a set of AMP power runnng boards.....still have to adapt the mounts but my wife would love them. Any other ideas?

Re: Nerf bars / A pillar handle

I have the AMP's, been on for about 2 years. Expensive but work as advertised. Nothing showing when they are closed, totally useful when deployed. I would do it again. Counting mine there are 3 OBS's I know of with them. One that AMP sent me pictures of, mine, and Brians97F250Crew. Each of us had their own mounting idea.

I'd really like to have those AMP power boards, I like them. I have a friend who has them on a SD. But, I'm trying to justify the price!! I'm trying to convince myself that I would not regret putting them, and my wife would really like them. What did you have to do to mount them? Did you use the SD mounts and modify them? Any ideas would help, as I'm seriously considering them.

I'm also thinking about the Kodiak power steps, since I really only need them for the front and they would be less than half the price of the AMP's, under $500.

Re: Nerf bars / A pillar handle

SSIIbuild, I feel like your alternate universe twin--we have the same exact truck (mines a '95) and the exact same issue to solve for the wife. I prefer to get a set in polished stainless, but so far to no avail. Westin makes a set in black or chrome for our trucks (Westin Signature Series) and Grizzly makes a set in stainless (Premium Bar 3 Inch) for an 87-98 F250 crew cab (haven't checked if they would fit our trucks yet). That's as close as I've come.

and here's his reply:
"Sorry, we do not have anything for this application. Bruce"

Could you tell me more about your AMPs? Are they on your '91 F250 or your wife's '96 F250 crew cab? How did you get them?

Any help would be most appreciated too--my wife has a real struggle to get in the truck.

Thanks,
Wil

Thanks Much,

Re: Nerf bars / A pillar handle

I've been looking at the westin ones but would like to see them on the truck. I hadn't come across the grizzlys yet so I'll have to search for them now too. I hit a pullapart today, finally found one here. Found some good handles out of rodeos and pathfinders. Now just have to buy some wellnuts or nutserts to mount them.

Re: Nerf bars / A pillar handle

I purchased my handles form Austin Hardware. If you order them online, they only have black, but have other colors listed in the print catalog.

The AMP boards mount on the flat vertical surface on the inside of the rockers on a SD. Our OBS doesn't have that flat surface, but it looks like an L shaped plate could be made that would attach at the top to the bottom of the door sills and at the bottom to the pinch seam. That would provide a flat vertical surface to mount the AMP boards to. I'm going to pick up just the mouning bracket from the local truck accessory shop and crawl under a couple of trucks to verify it as soon as I can.

Re: Nerf bars / A pillar handle

Whoa boys slow down. I put a lot of research into this since I really couldnt afford them to begin with. I don't have time to get into it right now, but the the first thing....I downloaded all of the design drawings from AMP's websight and went from there. The ones to use are the Chevy ones, the sill is the most similar to ours. I will elaborate soon.
