New to board - Diesel Forum

Hey all, just registered here and wanted to post about a truck I'm getting ready to buy and see if any of you could give me some advide/info. First of all, this will be my first diesel. I've been driving an S-10 for a while and have an old Camaro i've been messing with for a few years. The truck i'm looking at is a 1996 F-250 4X4, 7.3 Extended cab SWB. 110,000 miles on it, very clean, with very little rust starting around rear fender wells. I thought I could get rid of that and cover it with some nice looking fender wells and not have a lot of money tied up fixing that. I think I can get the truck for around $9K. Drove it yesterday, everything seems fine. I've worked for the owner on and off since he bought the truck, he's pulled very little with it and has serviced it probably a lot more than normal. Does this seem like a good buy? Around here in VA, it seems about 2K less than what most are going for in that condition. Also, anything I should do before I start driving it everyday? Thanks.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the site! Take a look at teh top of the page, FAQ's. Go to the 94-97 section, then to links. You are looking for Steve Baz's site. He has good pre buy checks on there. As far as the price, somebody will allways tell you they bought a good one cheaper. But knowing the owner and his service habits is a big plus! Go by the local market and comp sales on the price.
