new cargo/third brake light

Has anyone figured out a new light set up?

I got into my grandpas 02 f150 and the light lights up his whole bed and more. Mine will light up enough to see it. I just but brighter bulps in it too boot.

I was wondering if anyone has put one on off of something else or something.

Or will i have to figure this one out? Thinking leds but i will have to find a close oem match first. Junk yards..

If you have tried it let me know what doesnt work so i dont try it and if you have it please share it.

any thought? Jordan

Re: new cargo/third brake light

i have heard of people melting the wiring with stock set up so a 50watter would catch on fire that and the wiring would have to be re done because i think its to small for that type of amp

would be bright tho

i know the 97^ f150 wont work they are shaped completely different. But if you have acess to a dodge or chevy to just try let me know.

I may just get rid of the cargo lights and rig up a third led brake light. not like i would miss them

Re: new cargo/third brake light

Got to be careful when putting a LED bulb in there. The PCM might sense that it has burnt out bulb and your cruise won't work. Might have to put in load resistors.

Re: new cargo/third brake light

Are you after brighter load lights or a brighter brake light?

Re: new cargo/third brake light

i think the led brake light thing is for the rear tail lights and i have what im going to do with that worked out.

Im after brighter cargo and third brake lights. I want brighter cargo and a led third. If i can find a brighter cargo i will go with a all led third without cargo.

Re: new cargo/third brake light

Think i figured it out,

i tryed a 98 ford ranger ex cab 4X4 flair side.. any way its just a little wider. A little. and i put mine on it and it fits the body line and would be close, Nothing a little selant would not fix.

I have a ebay site saying that rangers and SD are the same.

Here

Is that true?

if so thats what i am getting.

Oh last resort here
