New suspension advice?

Ok.. i have had my 97 f250 for 2 years (2 wheel drive). Any suggestions for Shocks? would i need to replace anything else? How long are the springs and leefs good for? Or any other component for that matter (got 230k miles). I dont want to replace one thing and find out i should have done something else later.

I dont need anything special here is my usage:

tow 2 horse trailer a few times a year
tote round bails every few months

That is it.

I also have a 97 PSD, mine is a F-350 though. Today I replaced the original shicks with Bilstiens and they improved the ride. The shocks I took off were still OK and working but I will have to say the ride is better. The pocket book is also lighter since the bilstiens are a little pricey.

sydeshowbob -- Bilstiens or Ranchos for the shocks. Some people like the adjustability available on some of the Ranchos for towing, daily driving, etc.

I don't think I've heard of anyone replacing the springs or leafs as part of a scheduled service. If you have concerns about load capacity, then replacment may be necessary.

Now might also be a good time to service the rear axle with a fluid change.

Cheers from Claremore, OK!
Dave

Bilstiens all the way... replacing mine in a week or so. The shocks i have look like their not that old but feels like teh bushings are pounded out... I just did some shopping around and actually found the bilstiens cheeper than teh rancho's non adjustables that i had been using for years... not any more
