First off id like to say hello to everyone, ive owned my truck for just over two years now (93-120K miles) and its finally time to mess with the drivetrain, sitting in traffic the other day my front pump seal went in the transmission so instead of just replacing the seal ive decided to do a rebuild, a friend of mine who i believe is on this site referred me to Bill at Racer X, ive purchased his clutch kit, tranny cooler, flexplate, torque converter, transgo tugger kit and various other internal parts. from there i went to diesel site and got the external tranny filter, mag hytec pan, and a oil crossover line to go with the 18k mod and mbrp exhaust i have sitting in boxes.
if there is anything else anyone can think of or any advice it would be greatly appreciated
sorry for the long post and thanks again
Rick

be SUPER CLEAN!!! Make sure not to use anything that will leave "lint". When your kit arrives..read the directions at least twice and look at the parts at least three times so you know you have the right ones. Take your time and have fun

should have mentioned that i myself am not repairing the transmission, i pulled it and a buddy of mine that owns a transmission shop is rebuilding it for me, should have it back saturday, wether or not i put it in then is a whole other question, thanks for the input

well today i put in the transmission and all the other stuff except for the 18k and oil crossover, transmission shifts pretty hard its gonna take some time to ge used to it but on the plus side it chirped 3rd getting on the highway 3/4 throttle pretty good for a stock truck with 35's and 355's, overall im happy with it

will this donaldson filter bolt up to my intake setup? or is there another brand of filter that will, is there something wrong with the 18k im not looking for massive power i just wanted to get a little better fuel milage and thats what the 18k advertised

also the shifts are only hard when your into the throttle, light throttle shifts are smooth (relatively), im not worried about the drivetrain the rear shaft got two new joints and was rebalanced theres a new tranny mount and there sterling is a good axle when she gives up it will be time for a locker and 430's maybe some discs while im at at, the transgo kit is on the softest setting i cant imagine what it would be like with some holes in it

thought id just give an update, ive got about 1100 miles on the truck since the rebuild, the shifts have smoothed out considerably, im in love with the converter what a difference it made from a stop and especially passing on the highway, last week i drove about 320 miles 200 of them on the highway and got 20.5 mpg, i still havnt installed the 18k thinking i might go for an idm mod instead,
I would highly recommend bill at racer x he was a big help and the parts i got from him are top notch, and his converter is amazing

20.5 is pretty damn good for 35" inch tires. I average this same mileage usually if I drive sensibly. I second the chip over the 18k mod. You can have a multi-position chip programmed to your liking. For instance on mine I have:
1st setting; High Idle
2nd setting; Tow mode
3rd setting; Economy mode
4th setting; Performance/Race Setting
I use the High Idle almost everyday in the Winter Time to help the truck warm up. Otherwise I usually run in the economy mode. Give Tony Wildman a call (Total Diesel Performance) 817-932-5078

and i also second getting rid of the k&n setup. buy an afe, buy a tymar from dale, just ditch the k&n. i have seen turbo impellers look like they have been sandblasted because of that intake choice
