Re: oil cooler R&R

No R&R that I know of, but if you search this forum and the stock OBS PSD page going back about a month or so, there have been several posts with the info and links to pics. Maybe someone needs to do one...?

Re: oil cooler R&R

Went back through some of my old links and found this Cooler Pics You can get the o-rings and end gaskets from the powerstroke shop. Just need to drain the coolant, there is also a drain plug in the block on that side to get it below the cooler. Remove the oil filter and engine block heater. Think I had better luck getting at the top front bolt from the top of the engine. Might have even taken some other bracket off to make it easier. Clean everything up real good. Put the cooler o-rings on the tube, not inside the ends as the paperwork (I think) suggests. Lube the rings good with engine oil and use a bar clamp to pull the 3 parts back together. I used some saran wrap from the kitchen to keep the ends clean while I put it back in. Just go slow and take your time. Not a real hard job, but some of the bolts are a bit tricky.

Re: oil cooler R&R

When I pulled out a few oil coolers I took front left wheel off and used loooooong 3/8 extention through fender well to remove 2 front bolts on cooler flange. It was a peice of cake and I just took utility knife to cut small slit in the well first to allow wiggle room and to see the bolts. No need to raise engine or touch engine mounts. Just remove block heater and filter and the cooler will pull out the rear side after twisting just a bit.
