Hello all, I have a quetion for you all, I am installing gauges on my truck and I found information on how to install the prometer and boost, but was wondering about the oil pressure gauge? So far the only info I have found is that it shoud be on top of the HPOP, but were? Is it were the plug is, and if it is should I put a tee on it to allow the HPOP to be filled ? How much pressure can I exspect to see ?
Thank s y'all
Tim
Your getting an oil pressure gauge for in the cab?? I don't think I've ever heard of a High Pressure Oil gauge. Are you sure you don't have a trans temp gauge?
Good luck,
TFB

yeah unless it is a High Pressure Oil gauge (which I have never seen nor heard of) it will mount on the right hand location in the above photo. It is just to the right of the oil filter.
they do make high press oil gauges. i inquired about one at a local hydraulic system specialists shop and he found me an electric oil press gauge that read up to 4000 psi cept it was around 350 bucks i still might get one though in the summer when the cash flow is good

I think he is talking about a reg. oil pressure gauge. Yes, you can mount it on the hpop res., that is were the stock sender is located. The oil in the res. is not high pressure, it is only under normal engine pressure. You can put the sender in place of the stock one, or put a tee there and have both. You can also put it down by the filter, where the other pic shows.

I realize that for gas engines and maybe other diesels you may want an oil pressure gauge, I certainly have one in my car, but as far as a PSD goes teh factory gauge is more than enough, if you do lose oil pressure or hole a pan etc, teh motor will just shut down, teh first place to lose oil is teh HPOP so teh injectors will just not function adn the gallery is last , so in actual fact you can not damage teh motor by runnign out of oil, cool eh!

I ordered a 3 pod cover and since I have a 5 speed I dont need a tran temp. I am going with a oil pressure gauge from auto meter lunar series, it measures 0 to 100 psi. I am also putting in the pyro and boost gauge's but I have found a desent write up about them. From what I have found out searching on the side is that most put a tee in under the factor sender a tee in the Gauge.
Thank s for the info and pictures

It would be a whole lot cheaper to just get a liquid filled 4000 psi guage and just plumb it into the cab, the only drawback is that they are not lighted.
of all the ppl to say this, me, i dont like the idea of 3000 psi of hot oil in the cab. thats y i looked into an electric gauge

I'm with you there. That's why I mounted my mechanical HPOP gauge to the cowl. Got mine from Northern Tool for like $20 or so and had a liine made for it.

I have an electronic HPOP gauge that uses the IPR signal. If you do it that way, the gauge must have an op-amp high impedance input section, or it will skew the signal and affect the operation of the engine and the accuracy of the gauge reading. Also, it won't work with the 10K mod, for the same reasons.
Alternatively, you could mount a second IPR to the #1 cylinder oil rail port, and drive the gauge from that. Then you can still have your 10K mod. I would still use an op amp gauge, though.
My gauge is Westach p/n 2DC3-264KV DUAL, It's a dual gauge, the other half is fuel pressure.
sweet! whered u get that gauge from and how much was it? and jim thats what a friend of mine did with his. i made up a hose for him and its on the cowl plate but no lights i think were gunna try a lil led at the base of it and see if that works though
