Part # for 4R100 pan

Does anyone have the part number for the 4R100 tranny pan? I want to switch out the pan on my wifes 2002 Expedition (2WD with E4OD) to have a pan with a drain plug. Would make servicing much easier on her hotrod.

Re: Part # for 4R100 pan

Here is the information that I have:

4R100 Tranny Pan F81Z-7A194-BA Ford
Rubber Gasket for Tranny F6TZ-7A191-A Ford

Although I think that most of the time you can reuse the rubber gasket.

Re: Part # for 4R100 pan

For little or nothing you can braze a pipe fitting in the stock one and put a plug in it. If you have a torch and some brass that is. Suppose you could weld it in, if you have a welder. Brass is easier for me, I can do a better job of no leaks over welding.

Re: Part # for 4R100 pan

Yeah, that's what I did with my F-250 tranny pan....but it was done at my Dad's house with his brazing torch. I don't have a brazing setup and am getting ready to service my wifes tranny and don't want to make a mess twice (put in new pan with plug so next time it will be easy and not messy).

Re: Part # for 4R100 pan

You can also get a universal drain plug at NAPA for about five bucks and install that. I've done two of them and they seem to work great.

Re: Part # for 4R100 pan

When you order, check if the number is for 2x4 or 4x4 since pans are different.

Re: Part # for 4R100 pan

Welded a plug in mine yesterday with a tig welder worked fine. You can also use a wire welder. It just gets the pan a little hotter. Make sure you get a black pipe bushing, stay away from the galvanized bushings. The Pan has some galvanize in it but its not bad enough to effect your welds.
