If you are in Colorado or close by another option is Travis's auto trannys his number is in my signature and he can build an auto tranny from mild to wild.
I am very happy with this better than stock rebuild in my truck.

i would stick with a well known tranny builder (bts, ats, richter69, suntoast, john wood,etc...) i thought id keep my money local and ended up losing a ton of $ by the time it was all over.
He may not be well know to you but he can build a performance tranny just the same as BTS or the others. And his customer service is top notch. I don't reccomend anyone who is not an awesome place to do business with.
Sorry you lost a ton of $$$ with your local shop, but that won't happen with Travis.
BTW Before BTS, Richter and the others got well known were their trannies and service of lesser quality?
Tim

I have to agree with Tim, if you have the means, do call Travis, I saw a post from TCH777 and went to Travis. He got me in, and put in the sonnex and new tranny cooler. I got to see one tranny build he was working on, and it was amazing the care he had and was putting into the build up. He was easy to talk to and straight forward, saved me from spending unneeded money as well. You do not find that too often!!! I would certainly give him a holler. By the way , he was a factory Ford Tech before he opened his own shop. Lots of honest knowlegde with that guy. Colin

I have to say that I'm totally satisfied with my built tranny from powerdemon.com. I pulled a front end loader/scraper Tuesday and left in in O/D. It shifted and pulled great. It didn't make unnecessary shifts, or hunt gears, and it ran cooler with a load on it than it does unloaded (maybe because I can't keep my foot out of it when I'm empty and hot rod the tar out of it). It ran 170 max, up hill, at 65 mph, in 83* ambient. I was driving very sensibly since I had a good load on.
Powerdemon puts in the six gear planitaries; HD 45 element sprags; extra clutches in coast, l/r, forward, direct, and O/D; Borg-Warner Hi-Energy kevlar frictions and bands; new selenoid packs; Precision Billet TC; high volume pump; Sonnax valves; Transgo "Tugger" Reprogramming Kit; and ect... into their Power Max trannys.
Powerdemon Power Max trannys are rated to tow max load in O/D and come with a 3 year/75000 mile warranty. Robert, the owner, told me he didn't have any problem with me running high horse power/torque through the tranny either and that wouldn't void the warranty.
PD trannys cost $2529 which includes the TC and warranty. That is almost $1400 less than a BTS tranny. (I called BTS about a tranny, but decided not to get one when I found out they were $3900 and given that I only paid $9200 for my whole truck.)
PD didn't charge me for towing even though they used an independent towing company, they didn't charge me for upgrading to Mobil 1 Synth ATF and he was going to give me a tranny cooler, but I already had a new one.
I talked Robert about BTS and Suncoast trannys and what all goes into them because that's what I thought I wanted. The only difference is that BTS/SC use the Alto Red Eagle clutches/Kolene Steels and the PD uses heavy duty Borg-Warner Kevlar clutches/steels. When I was comparing BTS/SC trannys to PD's Robert told me "I put all those parts [ie: planitaries, sprags, ect...] in mine too. How do you think I could offer a 3 year warranty if I didn't build them like that?" He also told me that the Red Eagle clutches were RACING clutches, and that the BW clutches were heavy duty TOWING clutches. Since I don't race my truck, but tow with it instead, I went with PD.
If you are interested in a Power Demon transmission go to their web site or call Robert Toll Free: 866-309-8200; Phone: 713-937-3838; Fax: 713-937-3695; or e-mail him: info@powerdemon.com.
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT mean to disrespect anyone or start a war over whose trannys are better. I don't work with or for Power Demon. I've never had a BTS or SC tranny and cannot offer an opinion about their performance. I have been to both their web sites, read about them here, read the magazine article, read what parts go into them, researched them, and, I did call both companies and talk to them about their products. I am only reporting my experience and what I know about to help others make a better informed decision. YOU need to do your own research and decide what's best for you.
I hope you all have a great day!
