Re: questions for those that have run the 1/4 mile
sounds like ya got the idea. i think i would do a couple of "test" runs around the house(back road ) to see if ya can really just mash the throttle and go or if the tires are just gonna sit there and smoke. ya might have to feather the throttle just a tad before putting on the wood. pyro and boost gauges don't work when racing(forget their there). maybe bring some u-joints, don't seem like you'd need a spare belt but if ya have one already throw it in.

sounds like your'e going to have fun. It will take some time to get a good launch with the lights. when you see the last yellow light GET on it. i would keep it in overdrive and don't shift it manually. i have found that when i was shifting it manually i would get excited and throw it up one more gear than i wanted or sometimes into nuetral. i made a few good runs and i couldn't tell the diff from the manual shifting to the auto shifting. when you are racing you don't really look at the guages (at least i didn't the first few times) you WILL get addicted have fun~

Re: questions for those that have run the 1/4 mile
I pull my finger off the transbrake button on the top bulb, then hang on and let the electronics do their job, put a wheel on him at the stripe, hope the win light comes on in my lane. Never done a psd, will want to get good and staged and get that turbo spoolin' then when the last bulb starts to go dim, (prolly led bulbs now so you won't see the bulb come on and get bright then dim) let off brake and slam accel pedal. Put tranny in d and cancal the o/d prior to staging, let the tranny shift its self, then if you need 4th gear hit the o/d button, doing it this way will take some strain off the o/d roller clutch, never manual shift one.
Re: questions for those that have run the 1/4 mile
IF possible, try two footing it, one on the brake, other on the go pedal, spool the turbo up a bit, or alot, depends on wheather it will brake the tires loose or not. the light turns green, or last yellow depends on your reaction time, all you have to do is lift a foot, (prefeble the left ) mash the other, I put $20 bucks on a big smoker burn out if you do it this way.
like others have said go out on a back road and try it, my friends and I have "made" our own out here on a lonely tar road, complete with checkered start and finish lines.

Can you explain what a delay box does? I was at the track on Friday night and the announcer was talking about delay box's and deep staging.
Help me out, I'm lost on the drag racing lingo

Re: questions for those that have run the 1/4 mile
A delay box is used with either a transbrake or dual line locks. Basicly it is just a programmable delay device. I have a t-brake, it uses a monentary button and when depressed it locks the tranny in two gears. I take my foot off the brake and slam the accel pedal to the floor. When the button is released the tranny goes to one gear and hang on. With no box I have to release the button just as the bottom bulb goes out, or in case of the new LED bulbs, take a wild guess. With a delay box I can turn the button loose as soon as I see the top bulb come on, thus making it more consistant. A lot of variables come in to play, stage depth, air quality, car reaction, driver reaction and a million other things. The boys I duke it out with you better cut double o lights and dial it on the money or your going home early. The box has other functions depending on the model you buy. I can crossover and go off an opponents top bulb if I'm the faster car, hit both his and my bulb, both my top and bottom, yada yada yada.
