Hey gang,
I have a few little reapirs to make to my '95 and then I would like to start tweaking it for a little more fun. I was planning on doing boost/pyro/tranny gauges first, then 4" exhaust, and then a Tymar or AFe air filter. After all that was paid for I was planning on a DP Tuner module. I'm sure with 179k on the clock and more power, I'll be investing in a trans too so I don't want to shoot all of my money on power goodies.
It does seem like a fella can save a good bit of money by going with a package deal from one of the diesel performance places. Beans is one that I have been looking at: http://www.beansdieselperformance.com/94-97packages.htm I am not planning on 500hp right now, but I won't rule anything out for the future [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] I would like to be able to give my brother a good run in his 2002. I would be even better if I could give the 6.0 guys a hard time too. I am thinking the 300 or 345hp package would be the most I could do without fragging the tranny. Then again, I guess it could crap out tomorrow with my stock engine [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif[/img]
So, have any of y'all gone with this packaged power deals or is there a better way to put that kind of power together? I could tell you how to build a 500hp 12v Cummins truck real quick, but I am still very much a newb when it comes to the PS.

300+ will shred a stock e4od in a matter of days, if you actually use the go pedal much, if you light foot it, then it will last longer, but if your gonna have to light foot it, why bother getting the power goodies until your tranny can handle it, then no worries.

First forget the afe and DP Tuner module , Call Dale at web page and get your intake, exhaust and guages from him. Then save for the BTS. Once you have a BTS to get 500hp and make it live...save another $5-7k. You will need IMO a girdle, valve springs, pushrods, Beans: modded H2e, double fuel pumps system, Stealth, stage 3 injectors, head studs, TW's chip and the biggest IC of your choice.

I am not looking for 500hp immediately. Too rich for me right now. I would like to make a gradual increase in power as I can afford it. I'd like to have enough power on hand to pull the occasional equipment trailer and for fun. Maybe do some racing later on. My truck looks so rough that it would make a great sleeper [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
I think I'll get my gauges, filter and exhaust in to get a baseline on everything. Then I'll talk to Brian about tranny upgrades.

I did it the other way because of money and time and I did drive normal and did not tow anything heavy until I got my BTS and when Brian took my stock tranny apart he said it looked great inside, I think it had about 150k on it now I'm at 163k I know its not alot of miles but I'm sure in the 120 program its gotta be like dog years to people years [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif[/img] so that should be like 130k anyway It would have been cheaper to get the package but I didnt, I got the stage 1's, the tymar, chip and gauges I had a downpipe and stock exhaust allready. Then I went for the BTS, Beans IDM and MBRP exhaust now I am getting ready to install a stock 6.0 intercooler. O'yeah and I can spank a 6.0 with my mods that I have right now [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] then again its our work truck 2003 F-450 auto with about 20k on it, by the time it gets going I'm a 1/4 mile down the road [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif[/img] it is stock and if I remember it will only do about 85 mph, computer I guess. Yes I am missing out and would love to have high #'s but I would rather not have the injector problems that come with those higher pressures [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

assuming you did have a high icp pressure....do you know how often or long the pumps would actually move that pressure? not very much unless you drive around in that file foot to the floor all the time. i promise you from my experience, there's a huge difference. as well if you didnt want it all you have to do is ask. i dont think he sends any chips out with high icp, at least over 3000 unless you ask. besides how would you know what icp he gives?
