propane injection

I know this subject has been talked about before, but can't find it in searches. It has to be me. Any experience or opinions? Thanks, Barry

Re: propane injection

Is there something specifically you need to know Barry? I used it on my truck for a couple of years, and it worked quite well! I had the Powershot2000 system (vapor) and it gave me 80 HP on the Dyno.

There are many folks on here who have used it, and many still using it, so if your patient, I'm sure more info will come you way.

Re: propane injection

I also had a Powershot 2000 for a couple of years. I made 75 HP on a dyno with my set up. I really liked the propane but when I went with the stage 1's I got scared I was going to hurt something and sold it. Used in moderation I think propane is a good thing. I think propane gets a bad name from people that keep putting more and more propane to it until something pops. Also, you will need to make sure that your chip does not have a bunch of timing in it because that is bad with propane too.

Re: propane injection

I run the ATS propane system and it works great,It is good when towing as the tranny does not shift out of OD on the hills.

Re: propane injection

I am still running propane on a home made two stage system. My system, (original plans came from a member that used to be here named The Tank), uses a liquid draw from the tank and a vaporizer heated with coolant lines tapped from the heater core lines. It is activated by boost pressure. First stage comes on at 5 psi and the second stage comes on at 15 psi. Now a days I run it very sparingly as I have a lot of other power mods., (see my sig), that are safer to use. The problem with Propane is that you can do allot of damage quick to the motor if you run to much. I use it mostly for economy as it does help to get a little better fuel mileage. My eleven gallon tank lasts me 4-6 months. I do not use it in Tony's race mode as it is not needed with that programming.

Hope this helps,

Invader

Re: propane injection

Thanks for the replys. I just came back from a trip to Colorado towing my 37ft 5th wheel. I don't want to go to bigger injectors(I only get about 9mpg on a good day anyway)I just want more power when needed on hard pulls. I was wondering if propane was the way to go, and how it operates? Do you just push a button when you need a boost? Thanks, Barry
