pull truck shocks

changing the shocks on my truck and want to know if the brand/quality matters with the stiff rear suspension i have. we are going to add 1 more pack to each side making a total of 13-14 leafs and after that adding ladder bars. i know some here have been talking good about the bilstiens but im not sure if i can justify 80$ a shock when it shouldnt move all that much

so, is riding in your truck like riding in a radio flyer wagon on a cobblestone street?

Re: pull truck shocks

my dads truck is like that 97 cab and chassis 4x4...
it has about 5 overloads on it from factory...real stiff... can haul a serious load though.

Re: pull truck shocks

I just paid $240 for the set of Bilsteins at a local parts house-- The Ranchos were in the $210(?) range. I'm real happy with the Bilsteins so far; the ride is obviously firm but the spring is much more controlled and got rid of the 'hobby horse' ride.

If you like me, the shocks that were on the truck were junk and these were a huge improvement. I would suspect that either shock would be fine..

Re: pull truck shocks

240 is not bad at all for the bilsteins, i found them for 80$ a shock for the 5100 series. they were the lifted shock.

Re: pull truck shocks

Mine were for stock height and the standard monotube; I don't know if the longer shocks are more pricey.

Re: pull truck shocks

The Bilstein's are the most popular. We've been selling Bilstein shocks for over 35 years, and have a VERY low warranty rate. Once in a while someone will think they're a bit too stiff, but most people are so thrilled with the improved handling, especially when towing, that we get very few returns. We also stock the Edelbrock Performer IAS Shocks, which are becoming more popular.

Here's a link to our selection of Ford Truck Shocks. Take a look or give me a call if you'd interested in Bilstein or Edelbrock.

Here at eShocks.com we keep literally 1000's of Bilstein and Edelbrock shocks in stock. We offer low prices, fast, free shipping on most orders; and have a generous return policy.
