Hi what is the purpose of idm mods what kind of results will come of it like reliability , throttle response , power gains , mielage , ect ? is there any real advantages to it and why do people do it ? Thanks for input guys also if anyone has a link to a website or pics of where to install it great also what resistor would be used and how to tell if the idm is 100v 110 v or 120v i have a new sd idm that i could mod or i could mod the one in my truck doesn't matter Thanks

The mod will net 140v. It makes the bottom end respond quicker and adds some HP .. lower rpm. I had Joe Servo do mine 6 years ago..150k and it still is working! Great mod.

I can do them for cheaper than most shops charge. I have done 3 so far with no problems. PM me if interested. I think I have 3 resistors left for IDM 100 and 110's.
On that subject, is the idm mod doing smoething that would be done by a tuner? What I mean is if you get a tuner, is there any reason to still do the idm mod?

Yes it still helps. I did this mod to my truck (stock) and made a huge difference. The other 2 trucks I did had superchip programs on them and both guys said they noticed a difference in acceleration.

Your IDM is located on the driverside inner fender near the brake booster. On the wiring harness that plugs into the IDM has a label on that says IDM-###.
IF anybody wants to talk to me about doing this mod PM me and I will give you my number so I can answer any question you might have about it.
I did a new motor with 100hp injectors from Pensecola Diesel. The buzz test passed each injector individually, however there was a noticable difference in sound from the three injectors. The contribution test however failed 1, 2 and 8. I am looking at the IDM replacement first before I go back to the new stock injectors.
Funny thing is I had the same rough idle, hard start and generally running like crap when cold even with the old motor. Old motor had compression on 4 cylinders under 300 lbs. If your aftermarket intake tube comes off the filter, you should never just ignore it.

FWIW, Buzz test is useless, just ignore it. Contribution is most helpful.
If the CCT shows 1, 2, and 8 running the test 3 or 4 times, then I would swap those injectors with 3 others (Move 1 to 3 which is next to it, move 2 to 4 and 8 to 6) then run the test again. If CCT still shows 1, 2, and 8 then it's electrical. If the problem follows to 3, 4, and/or 6 then it's most likely an injector issue.
I have not heard any positive things about modified injectors from Pensacola, but it could be something else.
Good luck.
