Question/story

Ok this isnt the first time this has happend..

I lined up at the light with my old truck (buddy owns it) 99 Silverado 5.3 with all the best bolt ons and smog legal... Well the light turned green, he pulled me for oh.. 3 seconds untill i hit 5 psi and then i pulled hard, chirped 2nd gear (note stock gears 35's) and just kept pulling till bout 70mph (55 zone) so anyways heres my delima...

I have a banks chip, i hardly ever see over 800 post turbo around town (hardly ever, have to really be on it or lugging) and i wish it was pre but the previous owner had the banks downpipe so im dealing with it... i keep an eye on it like a hawk as im sure all of you do, anyways my question is... Will a 6 pos chip with say the program "Extreme" or "fuel7" make THAT big of a difference, i plan on going to injectors, but not for awhile, please all your advice is appreciated...

Re: Question/story

I think over a banks chip it will make a difference. I know some guys claim that the fuel7 burn has gobs of power, but it is written for HP injectors not stockers. I had a custom burned chip for 75HP and it made quite a difference. Now with the baby swamps and 6 pos. chip I have gobs of power. I dont use the fuel7 hardly at all. Banks is known for conservative burns. I would definetly upgrade the chip.

Re: Question/story

No reason you cannot move that Pyro to pre as long as there is enough slack in the wires which there should be. I originally had mine post in the Banks downpipe but moved it a couple of years ago.

Re: Question/story

It is in my personal and profesional opinion that the FUEL 7 program sucks with stock injectros, It is just asking too much out fo em and you actually loose power, But it may just be the trucks i am working with. The truck tend to run much better with a 75hp program.

But when you add some big squirters the fuel7 programs shine, However i still feel their are some better tuned programs for particular applications
