Aloha Folks-
Wanted to ask you if you know the part number for the seal that attaches to the "stub shaft?" My friend at Ford shows 2 parts BRS-84 or BRS-86. I think it is the 84 one that also has a number on it F81Z-1S175-HCA. Thanks!

Is this for the spindle bearing? If it is, there are three seals that go between the spindle and oil slinger in the stub shaft. I just bought the spindle bearing kits that had the bearing and all three seals. My bearings looked good so I just lubed them up with the Mobile 1 grease and installed the seals then bolted up the spindle.
OK I am going fire up the old d60 thread we have had going for so long. I found these sway bar link brackets but I am having a hard time seeing how these work. I have been keeping my eye out for another F350 so I can slide under and peek at their brackets. Are these what I need - how will they work? Thanks for any info.

Don't know what those are for but they aren't what you need to attach the front sway bar links to the frame. The ones you need have 3 3/8 bolt holes in a little triangle pattern and are shaped like this
l_
..l
the dots are place holders. The top bolts to the inside of the frame on the verticle part with the 3 bolts. The bottom tab is where the sway bar connects.

I was having a hard time seeing how those brackets would work I just wanted to ask before I pass over them. I see what you are talking about with your picture above. I might even go to the hardware store and just look around and see what I can come up with. Again thanks for the help.

I just found this bracket. #13 looks like it might work, I know it doesn't really look like what most of ya'll are using but it is just about the best thing I have found.
From looking at it in the picture it seems the bracket bolts directly to the frame - I think it is for the rear sway bar but I'm not sure why it wouldn't work for the front. I don't know what do you think?

Aloha TxAg-
You might want to start a new thread about the F350 stabilizer bar stuff in the Upgrades forum and title it as such. I think you will get a lot more help maybe photos too or links. Hoping to keep this thread about the Dana60 swap. Good luck now.

You are probably right I would get a little more exposure by putting this on its own thread. I just wanted to make sure and get my question to those subscribed on here because there is good D60 experience on this thread. Didn’t mean to hijack and I didn’t want to let the thread die. There had not been any post on here in a week - lol.

No problem. I just know in the past when I would search on the threads I liked ones that had continuity to them. Your questions are also important as well. Just trying to keep this one about the Dana60 swap for us F250 folks and include stuff about the springs if one is going to do the reverse shackle kit due to the d60.
I also made a promise: I am trying to get my photos up so folks can see what has been done. I am mainly doing prep, cleaning up and so forth before I go to the professional for the install (Mahalo to CaryT!).

So you have decided to let Cary install your D60? I have a friend that has installed a few before that plans on helping me but I have never installed the bearings or seals in any axel and would rather a professional step in on that part - but I will have to figure it out.
Have you bought your SD springs - is the code letter "B" "S" ect.. stamped on the top sping in the middle where the U bolt connects? I am going tomorrow to look at a few at a salvage yard and they are telling me they can not tell what code they are.

I really do not have the setup where I live to try and swap out the axles. Let's just say where I live is not flat. There is a lot I can do in terms of the gathering of parts and getting items needed before I see Cary. Also, since he has done so many of these with great success (he is kind of a leader I think in this area as he has been doing it for some time) and a shop setup to do this I feel more at ease. He is very helpful for those who will do it own their own and many on this board have the setup, tools etc to do so.
He helped me run down a set of rear springs. I do not remember if I saw a letter stamped on the springs but since Cary has seen hundreds of them he knows what they look like so I took a photo, sent it to him and he confirmed they were the correct ones.
In regard to your bearings, I do not remember if you got a 1996/97 d60 like me? I forgot what year yours is. Mine is the same year and as John has been so kind to share his knowledge of these trucks with us, everything from the hub, disc, bearings, manual lockouts and calipers will come right over. So what that means is that, yes you have to repack the bearings when you swap it over to the d60 since you are taking yours off from your d50. About a year ago when I had my brakes down I had them look at the bearings and replace as necessary as well as all the seals (inner and outer). So I know those parts are good on mine and will come right over. If you do not know the condition of your seals, bearings now would be the time to take care of that.
Unfortunately, I am not a pro so I can only share what I have learned but I know others here will chime in and be happy to answer your questions. Good luck now.

Aloha Folks-
was able to do some more work today and found a couple of gouges just below the threads on the driver side spindle. Would you recommend me purchasing a new spindle? If so, do they make one that has the cage bearing and seals already installed? Any brands you would recommend or just go to Ford? Is used spindle all right?
What year is your Dana 60 again? You may be able to use the spindle from your Dana 50. Those are parts that may be interchangeable, not 100% sure. When I did my swap, I was thinking of doing the same thing, but never had to do it.
Aloha Rusty-
My Dana 50 is a 1996 and this Dana 60 is a 1996. Will be interesting to know if it would swap over? Maybe John (GarbageMechanic) could enlighten us on this.
Mahalo,
kyle

I have some of each around, I'll have to take a look. Some years the pilot on the back of is not as deep, a situation I don't think is a good idea since the pilot is what really takes the load, not the 5 little studs.
