well at first i was looking for the install papers but i did find them but now it says that i need to put a diode in between the wait to start lite and the ecm. and the wire for the wait to start on the remote start needs to be inbetween the diode and the ecm but do i really need the diode? what does it even do i see no reason why it needs to be there maybe you know. but i was just thinkin of hooking it up without it. is that a bad idea?

Yes you need the diode, the circuit is low current so it will backfeed if you don't use the diode and keep the light on all the time.
