removin turbo so time for downpipe? anything else?

hi, my fuel pumps shot so im removing the turbo to replace it and think this is an ideal time to modify the downpipe, also the glowplugs are getting swapped while im in there, should i do the injector o rings too> how difficult are they?, any websites or advice on what mods to do while im in there would be appreciated, also, what brand downpipe or does it matter, thank you all.

Re: removin turbo so time for downpipe? anything else?

Your turbo up pipes are probably leaking. Replace the donuts for them. Get under the truck with a strong light and check where the pipes from the exhaust manifolds go to the turbo. If you see soot (most likely) then you are loosing boost and power.
Mine are leaking and I've got the parts to do it...just not the weather (raining constantly).

Re: removin turbo so time for downpipe? anything else?

Last summer I had to replace the H.P. oil plug on the back side of the passenger side head because it was leaking. The o-ring was all tore up. The next time my turbo comes off, I'll be replacing the plug on the drivers side. Dale Isley sold me the plug for about $16, and said he's seen a lot of them need replacing. I only had 110K miles, so at 250K, I'd be replacing them if I were you.

Re: removin turbo so time for downpipe? anything else?

I'm in the same boat. I need to replace the turbo on my new truck and am trying to hit everything back there while I have it apart.

In addition to those items already mentioned, I plan on checking all the components and seals for the EBPV system. I will be keeping mine, but I see others have dumped it.

I am also wondering about how long the fuel pumps last? Does it make since to put a new one in since it's apart? At a minimum, I will be replacing the hoses on the back side of the pump.
