Removing turbo with trans out?

Pulling the trans today to install the SMF and clutch kit. How does this turbo come off, I have a 1.0 housing and would like to install and hear its much easier to remove these old up-pipes with the trans out. Im guessing remove the pedestal bolts, unbolt the up pipes and down pipe and pull up? Also my housing has some surface rust on the inside where the impeller sits, can I just use some scotch brite to clean it up?
