Replacing HPOP

So I'm hoping to swap mine out today or tomorrow...

I already found this link and this with some good info.

Are there any tips, tricks, or tools I should know or have to make it easier?

I am just always sketchy about doing something like this for a first time...

Re: Replacing HPOP

Ryan,

The biggest thing is making sure you get the gear back on all the way! It takes some finagling to get it on right. You can remove the res. cover if you want. It makes it alittle easier to get the gear back on. Plus if you drop the washer, you can grab it easier. Don't worry about the myth that it will fall into the engine, it can't go anywhere. Good luck and have fun.

Re: Replacing HPOP

20 minutes? Doesn't the fuel bowl have to come out?

edit: oh I forgot...you don't have that

Re: Replacing HPOP

Ok I just went out and looked real quick... what's involved in removing the fuel bowl? All I could find were two bolts going down on the back of the bowl. Aside from disconnecting everything, is that it?

I guess it's good I'm gonna be down in there anyways cause I just found some oil pooled up in the valley. I doubt it's my EBPV because there's no oil coming down the pedestal, though it is a little greasy/dried up oil around the hole and the whole actuator arm is like that too.

Re: Replacing HPOP

I just got the fuel bowl out

Does the HPOP reservoir have to be removed? I am wondering if I can get away with just siphoning it out, and removing the cover on the front?

Re: Replacing HPOP

It is much easier and safer if you remove the resevoir, this way you can make sure the pump is engaged properly and not do any damage to it.

Re: Replacing HPOP

Ok, I think I was gonna try that first anyways.

Just wondering though, is there any sort of gasket or sealant on the reservoir...if I take it off is there anything I have to replace?
