Power Strokes 1994-1997 Upgrades and AftermarketUpgrading or adding OEM or aftermarket equipment to your 1994-1997 Ford F-Series with Power Stroke engine.
I recently bought a 95 F-350 CC Powerstroke. I am getting ready to lift the truck via a RSK and found that there was at least two companies that make the kits, ORU and SKY. Any one have any thoughts or input on these kits. I like how ORU's kit looks but I have been told that SKY's is made of thicker plating. Also it looks like they both use a different method for relocating the track bar. Thanks for any input in advance.

There is tons of posts regarding the RS kits and from a general observation, the Sky kit is beefier and cheaper.
The Sky kit is also available as a 3" or 5" kit, the ORU is a 3(2.5")kit.
That said I have the ORU kit, I got it before I heard of Sky, (I don't even know if they had a kit back in 2000), and I have not had any problems with it.
I appreciate any information. I tried to do a search but did not have much luck. I was also concerned about the two different methods used to relocate the track bar. Not sure if it really matters but I want to make sure I have the right set up.

I bought the Sky and I really do like it, nice and beefy, you can see it on the red truck pictures, teh 3" kit will fit 35"s no problem. But I have thsi feeling that teh 5" one with softer saggy springs would ride better, or like Cary will tell you use SD front springs.

With the Sky kit did the trac bar relocate bracket work okay? Also has there been any problems with your axle and drive line angles. I noticed that ORU shows to cut the rear perches and Sky shows leaving them stock. I would think the extra 1/2" or so will help me clear 35s better. Also did you have to lengthen you sway bars? Sky didn't have anything for this and ORU did.

My brother has a 97 w/the ORU kit. He didn't cut the rear spring brackets, just gives ya a little more caster and lift. He's running some 305/85-16 Buckshots on stock rims,no probs.Tires are about the size of a 35-36"

Just getting broken in, 50,000 miles!
I've been studying on this a while. I will probably end up making brackets so I can run SD springs w/o spacing the bumper.
I have looked real hard at both kits. I have a SKY in my hands. The one difference I see it that the SKY kit completely ignores the fact that it drops the rear of the spring 4" with the new shackle, but only drops the front 2", thus resulting in a 4" lift but at what caster change? The ORU drops the rear of the spring 3" since you drill new holes. I don't know if there is a right and wrong between the two, but I do wonder about the effect on the caster?

I have a SKY as well...I think the sky is still quite a bit cheaper, and from what I have seen, like you mentioned, made with a little beefier stock metal...had mine on for a couple years no problems, no special cutting, etc...I did lengthen my sway bar links, and also put on a drop pitman arm to minimize bump steer...I recently switched back to a stock bumper vs. ranch hand, and I had to trim about 3/4"
off the stock chrome bumper edges to clear my 35's, I guess I could have shimmed it out
but I cut instead

I installed the Sky RSK with SD springs. To address some of the concerns:
No change in castor angle. I measured both before and after and it was within a half degree.
I did not use the track bar drop down bracket, since I already had a Superlift bracket. No I did not need the adjustable track bar. It was less than 1/4 inch of where it should have been naturally.

Briansshop,
I noticed on your trucks pics you have what looks like a reversal kit. Which one are you running?

I am looking to do this on mine, for the people that have done this on their trucks, NON SUPER DUTY SPRINGS, factory ones, what is the center of the hub to bottom of the fender? I would like to see if I will have more or less lift than my 4" skyjacker springs.

I have the ORU and havent had any troubles. Because I have a "mini kit" in there, my stock track bar didnt line up, so I built one on heims. works well and locates the front end where it should be. With the RSK and mini kit it's really close to the same height as the 4" rancho springs I had before.
