RSK is on it's way

Well after a lonnnnggggggggggg thought proccess, I've decided to install a RSK kit. Still looking to level out front-end and improve ride, and this appears to be the best way. Special THANKS goes out to CARYT, (he know's all the ins & outs about this topic, very knowledgeable). Kit should be here in 2-5 days. Not too sure when I can install (bow hunting season), but I'll post on results. I plan on having my shock mnts. shortened accordingly (2-2.5"), and adding a dropped pitman arm. Again, thanks to everyone w/their input. Jim

Re: RSK is on it's way

So do you have to do a drop pitman arm on this, cause ORU says that you do, and SKY says that you dont have to.

Re: RSK is on it's way

For an extra $75.00 for the arm, I'm gonna add it, and not gamble with "bump steer". And the majority of RSK users recommend it, they should know, they've already been there.

Jim -- Which reverse shackle kit did you go with and why?

I am always interested in the reverse shackle kit discussions because I hope to one day do this modification as well.

Cheers from Orlando, FL!

Re: RSK is on it's way

yep, get the drop pitman arm....

why the shortend shock towers? I run superduty shocks(meaning off a superduty, not a brand) with mine and its fine...?

your azz end will be a little lower, but can fix with air bags

good luck...

Re: RSK is on it's way

Jim, Thanks for the kind words..I just built on the orginal information that Shannon provided when he installed SD springs and shackels to his truck. I just applied the RS kit to the mod

Why change the mounts , keep em and get Bilstein's or Edge signature's series AH! Edelbrock IAS shocks

Don't forget a adj. track bar

Re: RSK is on it's way

I agree, best mod for ride quality! Without the dropped pitman you will have terrible bump steer. I dislike them but put one on after only a month without it. As for the track bar, I simply cut the bracket off the bottom of the shackle mount and welded it to the top side. Raised it perfectly so that my draglink and track bar are on exactly the same plain. ***Left it off on my gasser but the diesel is too heavy and I didn't like the way it handled w/o it. Did lose the sway bars though.
Go with longer shocks.

Re: RSK is on it's way

I went with ORU, it just looked like it was made better(based on PHOTOS), it does include the track-bar relocator mnt., whereas the SKY did not.

Re: RSK is on it's way

I'm not too sure on the shock tower cutting, I have a used pair I can butcher up. My shocks are relatively new and I really like how the perform. But if I have to, I'll just get longer ones.

Re: RSK is on it's way

the website shows a picture of it....and the accessory list has it
I believe they call it the pan hard bar drop bracket on the website

not trying to say your wrong, just think its a matter of what folks call things I am sure the ORU kit is just as good.

I also noticed that they say they have "formed" front hangers to eliminate the need for the spacers previously used..thats good,
because when I got mine, they had welded the spacers in the wrong spots to fit the frame, and I had to cut them off, move them, and re-weld into the correct places
maybe my "feedback" to them helped them to improve the product...LOL!fought that little spacer issue for about 15 minutes until I realized what the problem was...
