RSK kit?

Pardon my lack of knowledge on the abbreviations guys, just wondering what this RSK is. Searched it but to no avail on what it actually is. I know it is something to do with front suspension but that's about it so far! Also any info on the SD spring swaps would be great. Truck has 230k on it and getting time for suspension work.

RSK (Reverse Shackle Kit) is a type of lift kit for the front of a 4x4 OBS (F-Series trucks prior to the super duty in 1999) F250 and F350 trucks. To my knowledge there are only two manufacturers of these kits, SKY manufacturing and Off Road Unlimited or ORU. I know from SKY you can either buy a 3" kit or a 5" kit.

I am sure that I left something out, and there are many others on here that have done the swap as well and would be very glad to help you out. It makes the truck ride like a different vehicle!!! Much better than just a normal lift kit.

So if it just lifts the front do you block the back?

You can either block the back or buy lift springs. Some have actually used Super Duty Rear springs with great results. A 4" block will level the truck with an F250, not sure about the F350 since it already has a 4" block.

I wanted the back to sit a little higher so I went with the 5.5" block. In the future if I can get a good deal on 4" rear lift springs I will probably switch if the price is right.

Does the RSK from SKY come with new springs or did you just use your originals? Did you make your 5.5" block or buy it with the kit? Thanks for the help, truck looks good with just a little lift and lots of rubber underneath.

the RSK comes with only what is in the pictures on both Sky and Oru's site.

The intention of the RSK is to move the fixed point to the front of the spring and the shackle to the rear of the spring. From the factory Ford had the shackle on the front and the fixed point at the rear.

On top of that the Ford factory shackle is an "A" shackle instead of an "H". The top portion of the shackle inside the frame will most likely be oblong and the bushing will be deteroriated.

The RSK is uses all the other factory pieces, springs, panhard, sway bar,

it only serves to reverse the two mounting points.

Lots of info here on the RSK with Super Duty leafs. Check out post by caryt, diesel dutton, amberjax and from those posts you will find dozens of others. I did an RSK recently and love it. Next step for me in the suspension department is rear Super duty springs and custom valved bilstein shocks from caryt

One additional thing you need with a RS kit or ANY lift is a adjustable track bar. When you lift a truck with a fixed track bar the Axel will shift to the passenger side about 1/2-3/4" per every 2' of lift.
Either buy a adj. one or make your own from the old one. Rarely will a drop track bar bracket be perfect for your lift.

If you get / make an adjustable track bar, what is the "proper" way to set the length?

Do you put the vehicle back on all four tires?

Or should jackstands be supporting the frame, and no load be on the front end?

Just curious.

If you don't have weight on it when setting the length you will push the axle out of center when weight is applied.

Further to above, by "Reversing" (i.e. moving from front to rear of spring) not only provides some lift but also changes the handling characteristics of your truck and improves the ride significantly. I would also recommend Poly bushings.
