Im looking for any information on installation of a second generation PSD in a first Generation Truck, any posts anyone has run across?? I have done a search and have been unsuccessful, Or Just the plain Question Is it feasible to install a 99 and up PSD in a 96 truck that already has a PSD in it?? Are the mounts the same will the turbo fit under the firewall? Obviously Ill have to do some intercooler work/fabrication. of course any information is appreciated. Thank you. Jim
Re: Second Generation engine in First gen Truck???
Teh block and head are that same, teh late 99 jsut has a different turbo setup, which you don't want anyways, just use your old stuff, mountign an IC is easy enough.

Re: Second Generation engine in First gen Truck???
yes it would if you ant to use teh SD VC harness, but that jsut bolts in too, however you most ;likely will have to use and electric pump as teh SD block may not have teh fuel pump hole in it nor may teh cam have teh fuel pump lobe.

Re: Second Generation engine in First gen Truck???
I don't think they have the lobe for the lift pump. I need to check on the wiring. I'll have a definate answer in a few days. I'm going to do a complete side by side schematic. You will have to swap PCMs. And I'm not sure if the truck harness is going to have all the wires needed that go to the PCM. I'll let you know though.

Re: Second Generation engine in First gen Truck???
I forgot one important thign , you will need to run your old injectors, then you can keep your PCM, and jsut use teh engine harness, as the 42 pin plug is the same, it will all plug together. Teh front covers are difernet so you would need to decide on the SD acc set up or the OBS one and chose before install as teh front cover and pan would need to be removed. All you really want from an SD would be a long block w/o injectors
