Has anyone ever tried shimming with something larger. I was thinking I could boost my pressure with something larger. Say a cut down bolt thats bigger than a BB. How high can a stock pump push up the pressure?

Back when the BB mod was first posted several guys tried going higher on fuel pressure. The conclusion was that you can go too high and, if I remember right, 80 is the max before you start losing improvement, 60 seemed to be near optimum. There is a variation on the BB mod where a cap screw is put in the spring to increase pressure. If I am wrong on any or all of this, someone correct me.

I'll second Larry's comments. You could use the 4-40 Socket Head Cap Screw and see what that does (threaded part goes in the spring). You could even use a nut on the cap screw and make it semi-adjustable. You don't want to go over 80 psi, though (more is not better!). You'll also need to make sure that the spring is not going to "kink" if you're using something larger. If you still can't get the pressure up to 75-80 psi, you may need a new fuel pump. Cheers!
