Shock mount issues/Lifting Suggestions

First off I want to say whats up yall its been a while since I been lurching in here.

Now here is the deal. I have replaced both lower shock mounts on the front of my truck within the last year. The first one I replaced is ready to break again its all bent over. I was wondering if you all thought like me that my springs are shot. I had them rearched and added a leaf about 2 years ago. I am thinking that that has to be my problem and the solution would be to put a lift kit in. I am thinking on going with a 2 inch or so kit just to get new springs out of it. I don't really want her all jacked up.

What brand and place of business would be best to go through. I have heard of sky jacker and ranco but thats it. Any help or suggestions would be great guys.

Re: Shock mount issues/Lifting Suggestions

Not to make lite of your situation, but the shock mounts on my 97 (trail only truck) are bent all the way down. Once they bottom out they will not go any farther. And I regularly sky this thing with 50's on it, and the shocks don't fall off the front, can't say the same for the rear , but the fronts are always there when I get back to a stop lol. They only bend so far lol.

BTW, your springs wouldn't have to much to do with shock mount failure, unless you're really airing it out and landing hard with the light spring rate letting the front axle compress to fast leaving the shock to slow the load and bend the mount. Is that what you're thinking? How hard do you drive it anyway .

Re: Shock mount issues/Lifting Suggestions

I'm kind of thinking along these lines as well. The only way I could imagine the mounts bending is from bottoming the shocks. Granted there isn't much downward travel in a stock truck but the bump stops should stop it before the shock bottoms or there needs to be different shocks on it. The shocks should never limit travel in either upward or downward travel. If they do you need some bump stops and limiting straps or different shocks to correct it.
