Just arrived in the mail. Anything I should know before putting it in and hooking it up? apart from disconnecting the batteries. By the way what are you guys using to prevent battery corrosion? dielectric grease or vasoline ?

Edit: I had Stanadyne on the brain. Figured it out that this is about the Stancore glow plug relay.

I have had mine on for 8 months or so now and didn't put anything on for corrosion... Haven't had any problems with corrosion so far...

What about the batteries? I plan to disconnect the batteries to put the gpr on and I thought I would clean and "protect" the batteries. TIA Karl

We use spray cosmoline on the fleet. Comes under the name PDRP. Better than all commercial battery terminal coatings, read the mil spec salt spray test it must pass!

I use di-electric grease on the post and within the connection. I also use the rattle can spray on corrosion preventer AFTER the clamps tight, I don't know how good it conducts elecricity.

BUT....
Vasoline and rattle can paint will work just the same. Vasoline will protect the connection and the paint will keep the terminal from corroding.

I am gonna do the stancor before next winter, just hasn't been absolutely necessary, if I let is cycle longer that the WTS light it'll fire every time, my gpr just drops a little voltage...

I use CRC heavy duty corrosion inhibitor after I tighten the connections. We use it on just about everything on marine engines, it works great. Good Luck
