Starter motor... AGAIN !!!

Original + 2 replacements = 114,000 mls. What gives? What is the best/most reliable replacement starter? I've tried to follow the comments about 99-03 units but can't seem to find anything conclusive. Also tried [unsuccesfully] to search for the Nippon(?) that's been mentioned. E-bay... not sure about.

Would appreciate any links & advise/comments.

Cheers!

Re: Starter motor... AGAIN !!!

Hey Roger,

I have put in a Bosch SD one back in November of last year and it failed this spring, was guaranteed (one year)so was no big deal. The super duty ones really spin up faster which makes engine fire, start easier.

That's the one I have. Installed it in January 07 and haven't had any problems with it.

Re: Starter motor... AGAIN !!!

Locally, the starter alternator auto electrical shop I deal with started carrying the ones listed on ebay. The price is the same as ebay if you factor in the freight you don't pay locally. Some starters just don't rebuild well. I have seen a lot of complaints about failed remans, more Auto Zone and the like but NAPA too. That is why I went new.

That's what I just did, and so far so good! It has a different sound when cranking, but it cranks fast and is a fair bit larger than the stock starter!

Re: Starter motor... AGAIN !!!

Has anyone compared one of the Ebay starters to a real Denso piece?Just curious, as I'm gonna order a starter today or tommorow.By the time shipping is included a real Denso one is only about $10 more.

Just got mine last night and installed it. Unbelievable difference. I'm glad I waited the few extra days for this one.
