Steering Collum Gauge Pod

I remember someone making a single gauge pod for a steering collum and can't find them now. Does anyone out there have any ideas? Thanks for any & all replys.

Re: Steering Collum Gauge Pod

I have one of the pods in my truck I got it from tubbz, but Rick (ricksf250) is who was making them. At one time he wasn't sure he was going to make them anymore, you will just have to send him a pm.

Re: Steering Collum Gauge Pod

Im here, just missed this post. I kind of gave up because of the labor it took to hand produce each one, 7+ hour. then sought having a mold made to reproduce them, but once I got that quote and got up off the floor, I just kind of shelfed the project.
I have the proto-type if someone is interested in persuing it. They tell me overseas tooling is way cheaper than US... thats too bad.

Re: Steering Collum Gauge Pod

I made one from a F-150 pod that turned out pretty good. Took some die grinding. It looks pretty good. I'll try to figure out how to post some pictures.

Yes it was. They are hand laid fiberglass and hand finished. I was hoping to have a die made and then could pop them out of ABS plastic, but it is just outragouse what it cost to have a die made > 20k.
When you really dig into the custom fiberglass world, it is amazing what some people have built. Complete dashes and interiors, 100's and 100's to even 1,000's of hours of hand work.
Anyway, if someone is interested in carrying on, you could check overseas they say it is about 1/8th the cost for a mold made in the us.

Re: Steering Collum Gauge Pod

I was looking at my Dad's SD column the other day and it looked exactly like my column, so I pulled off the top piece of plastic on my column and compared it to his.

As far as I can see, they are exactly the same, except ours has an extra screw on the right side connecting the top and bottom plastic pieces.

I say buy the column pod for the Super Duties, as far as I can tell it should fit our trucks perfect. I may get one in a few weeks just to make sure it actually fits, they are like $30 I think.
