Super Chips 1705

i got a good deal on a used but never installed Super Chips 1705 tuner. I'm going to install on my '95 PSD. I have a Tymar intake, Hypertech DP, cat delete and stock muffler and tail pipe. I do not want to brake anything. I tow a 3 horse slant load goose neck. What do any of you that have used this tuner suggest as my every day setting? Also, forgetting teh hype, what kind of performance can I expect?

Re: Super Chips 1705

irish1,
I have that same tuner, and I would say;You are not going to break anything with it! My egt reached about 1100degrees pulling a 4k pound trailer up some little hills on the way to the coast. I had the tuner set in perf. tow. I did notice an improvement. My fuel mileage has stayed the same, maybe a little better! 17.5 to 17.7. I have it in tow safe right now and just came back from the beach and, got 327 miles out of the front tank (empty of course). I'll have to fill it up and do the math. I don't know what it will do for your automatic, because I have a 5speed, maybe somebody else will chime in with a automatic. Good luck and have fun! Re: Super Chips 1705

I used my friends super chips tuner for a while.......it's a very nice "safe" programmer, I stepped up to the edge for a little mo' power! But you'll love the superchips plus it's pretty punchy for what it is. Hope this helps.

What's it like to be 16 and love diesels...Well just ask all my friends with rice grinders that can't keep up. Oh and be able to out talk your shop teacher and basically teach the diesel part of our High School....Oh yea......

Irish1,
One more thing. If you don't have gauges, I would highly recommend them. You would probably enter the red, with your horse trailer on a long grade. Al

Re: Super Chips 1705

I second the gauges, I run my 1705 on the performance setting all the time, when I pull my enclosed car trailer she will get right to 1200, maybe 1250 depending on my foot, get a pyro on yours so you know!!!
