could a tranny/tq convertor going south cause poor fuel mileage?

if it's slipping or not locking up right then i think it would. then your fuel is just turning into heat inside the converter.

didnt really feel like it was slipping, was going fairly slow for the last 5miles on the backroads (icy conditions) temp outside was 30 and tranny temp got up to 190 and the last time it shifted before i got to the house it shifted really hard. I had been on the highway for the last 300 miles and it was running between 110-150 towing about 14k with the trailer and the truck on the trailer.

Fuel mileage was horible the worst ever less then 10mpg loaded and about 10 on the way down with just the trailer.

Winter fuel now as well, might want to calculate that into the equation....I hate all the dang additives!!
