Power Strokes 1994-1997 Upgrades and AftermarketUpgrading or adding OEM or aftermarket equipment to your 1994-1997 Ford F-Series with Power Stroke engine.
This is a '97 F350 4 door 4x4, 38" tires, chip, intercooler creates 20lbs of boost. We keep breaking the trans adapter. Any suggestions or aftermarket items that would be a solution to this problem? We have tried the more modern adapter and broke that too.
JayMM
The one between the engine and trans or the one between the trans and transfer case?

When is it breaking? Coming off of being airborne or ? In other words is it breaking from torque or impact? Tell us a little about how you use the truck.

There is a steel replacement for that part. I know Bryan at BTS puts one on all his 4wd transmissions. I seem to remember something about there being a limited supply of them

We have a feeling that the yoke doesn't have enough slip in it so we are impacting into the u-joints, plus we have no clearance between our driveshaft and cross member, there is only 1/16" or less. This is all the front driveshaft, not the rear. We just were driving into a 2' deep ditch the first time or possibly doing a burnout in the rain with the 39" tires, so it possibly could have been torque that time. Plus we have detroit lockers front and rear. The second time we broke the adaptor was going through a 4' deep ditch. The first time it broke, we just had a shop fix it for us and didn't realize the clearances.
Are you breaking the cast iron one or the alum. one?

They were standard 4r100. Driveshaft, i think your right. Fix that anyway. May save you from twisting shaft splines.
