Do you have a trans cooler other than the stock cooler? Trans temp usually 100 degrees over outside temp. Mine will run 180 pulling 24' car haulerat 75mph in 100 degree temps. Temps over 200 are not good if they last for any extended amount of time at 250 your tranny is done for.
I am sure you will hear from someone more knowledgeable than me.
Good Luck

Any trans temp up to 220F is just fine. It can run there all day with zero problems. You can go to 250F with no damage, but don't let it be over 220F for more than 1/2 hour.

If you ever do get it hot the ONLY way to cool it is to idle in park or neutral. NEVER shut the engine off when the trans is hot or you'll cook it.

Mine has got up to 210* on a long steep mountain pass pulling 14k at 27mph in 1st gear. normal temps for me is <150 unloaded and <180towing on average steep hills and hot outside temps makes it vary a little.

Cool On my gauge...

I no longer have the tranny running through the radiator... truck runs cooler when towing... have the largest external cooler I get get in the space. My gauge starts at 140... and never moves off unless I am towing my trailer loaded with water quads etc... then the highest I got was near Redding CA. last summer hit 250 going up hill in second... with EGT pre turbo at 1200.... took a while for it to go back down... JMHO...
