Transgo Tugger 2. A BTS valve body is OK but with out doing the pump mods it can only do so much.

Re: transmission upgrades...

I just did the TC lockup mod, and I really like it. Makes me feel a little better when I know the TC is lockedup manually instead of the computer doin it. Also it sure bangs the shifts in there now instead of being all fluffy. But I worry that the hard shifts is gonna break somthing one of these days.

Pump mod? What's this, what does it gain me/you & how to do it?

Re: transmission upgrades...

I'm assuming a pump mod means pulling the tranny. If so, I will proabably wait. The valve body is a good suggestion as I can do it with the tranny in the truck at the next service interval. I thought about the TC lockup but thought it might be best to do the valve body first. What do you guys think? It would be nice to be able to change the timing of the lockup and shifts without having to manually switch it. Any product suggestions? Thanks a bunch!

Firmer TCC lockup on E4OD. Pressure reg spring cal boosts line and bumps the amount of lube oil.

Yes the tranny and pump come out. A VB will direct atf but not change lockup or pressure. Shift points will change. The VB is half of a full shift kit. The VB changes shift feel as well. You could put the VB parts in from a shift kit and the rest later. Transgo is the full shift kit. If you want a single "power valve" There are a few and maybe Bully dog. Looks like BD is on clearance now, might be discontined so I'd avoid it for now.

Re: transmission upgrades...

Can the shift kit be installed while doing filter / fluid? Is Transgo the preferred brand? Thanks!

Re: transmission upgrades...

the vb (accumulator)will shorten the duration and firm the shift. The transgo tugger or hd2 will contain the parts to do this, however i would also replace the other 2 accumulator valves as the kit only supplies one. There are other things I like to do with the accumulator you do not get with the kit. You can do this by only dropping the pan, the little springs can be fun to deal with. Honestly a pre modded vb is the way to roll and the install is much simpler and the little stuff is already done for you.

Does an upgraded VB help the trans to last longer? I've owned
my truck for a few years and have no idea what the trans is. I tow
a 12.5K boat trailer and wonder if there's something not too expensive I can do to help it last longer besides a larger
trans cooler which I already have.

So where does one get the parts & directions to do this? I'm planning on the BTS VB, but not opposed to pulling the trans for extra perma-grin or reliability.
