i am looking at purchasing a truck that a guy bought in california brand new it has 140,000 miles on it and its an automatic and i was wondering if there are any emmisions stuff on there that i need to watch out for when i start modifying with a chip, exhaust, intake, intercooler, and injectors.
I don't know which year it started, but my 97 has split shot injectors (calif) and can make a bit more power from the stock parts with a chip. New injectors in a single shot will do way better though. No negatives that I am aware of (maybe less rust?) Good luck, and check out Steve Baz's website before you buy. A CA 97 is a plus... mostly... will not be easy to get single shot injectors to idle right, but the stocker injectors are good for almost 300 rwhp with supporting mods. My regular cab ran 15.40's at 87 mph with, stock AB's a bad tranny and a banks power pack.
