Trying 8oz of Redline two-stroke oil per tank.

I bought six pints (three Racing and three Watercraft) to see how it goes. That works out to around 250 to 1 ratio based on 16 gallons of fuel.

I read all the posts on the Cummins forum (real long read) and most think that synthetic leaves deposits. In my experience with very high performance two-strokes just the reverse is true. I would not put ANY non-synthetic oil in my fuel tank unless I was told to by Ford or IH.

Redline Racing has a flashpoint of 217F and the Watercraft is 225F. I can't imagine seven degrees being a big deal for this use. I'll give Redline a call Thursday and see what they say. Price wise, Racing is 7.95 and Watercraft is 4.95 a pint.

My truck is quieter at idle and under power as well. I won't have good mileage figures as I only have two tanks of fuel on this (new to me) truck.

So far for two tanks I have got 16.5MPG and 15.5MPG (both not towing with a mix of city and Hwy. driving). I haven't got used to how much I can fit in the tanks yet so my numbers really can't be trusted.

Re: Trying 8oz of Redline two-stroke oil per tank.

I prefer to be at a 1oz/gallon ratio, or about 100:1. This seems to me to get the best overall results. Tinker around with it and see what your truck likes. Just be cautious of "RED" oil because it will look like you are running off road diesel and you really are not.

Re: Trying 8oz of Redline two-stroke oil per tank.

I had a lot of trouble with RedLine synthetic 2 stroke oil pulling moisture out of the air. Ran it in a KDX200 for awhile and kept finding water in the bottom of fuel tank. Switched to Yamalube and NEVER found any water again. Read somewhere that RedLine uses a type of synthetic that is known for water problems.
Knowing that I'd be very hesitant to use RedLine in a diesel since water in the fuel is the kiss of death for the injectors.....

Re: Trying 8oz of Redline two-stroke oil per tank.

From Redine:
Two-Stroke Racing is very low ash and the Watercraft is ashless.

More from Redline in a week.

Re: Trying 8oz of Redline two-stroke oil per tank.

One more thing, many people are saying to run 100:1 to 150:1 ratio. My thoughts on running Redline at 250:1 are that if you can run Redline as low as 100:1 and it provides all of a gasoline engines lubrication.. 250:1 should be more than enough added lubrication.

Re: Trying 8oz of Redline two-stroke oil per tank.

Redline says that both oils are 75PPM Sulfur.

Two gallons of Redline watercraft oil and no problems at all. I changed the ratio to 14oz per tank a year ago.. Just changed the fuel filter and all was well.

Adds lubrication to help with low sulfur fuel.

100:1 is the recommended ratio for oil. Any ashless 2 stroke oil will do to replace the lubricity lost when the sulphur was removed from the fuel.
Stanadyne Performance Formula is not 2 stroke oil, but it is a lubricating additive which also cleans the injectors, contains anti-gel, and has a cetane booster. So it does much more than oil.

Where do you get the standadyne ? Also, I have heard of people putting automatic trany fluid in their tanks to lubrication thing. Anyone heard of that before ?

I landed on two-cycle oil because it is meant to lubricate and to combust cleanly. I chose synthetic from years of two stroke experience and Redline because I trust them.
The whole ATF thing does not float my boat at all. Using hydralic fluid as a fuel additive?
