Just lay it between the filter and the battery. Also, after running around and trying to find all the right parts, you will find it easier to just call Dale and get all the right stuff first shot. He can also sell you replacement filters pretty cheap.

I just tied mine off under the filter. Got the 5" heavy duty clamp at Napa w/my filter and picked up a 3" chunk of 4" exhaust pipe at a shop for free. Done and works great.

Nothing will out flow and out clean a Tymar-Donaldson kit.

I installed DIY tymar on 02 and now when I tow around 45 mph it has a whooshing noise is this normal. It also will do it but not as loud when not towing until in OD and road speed. Thanks for any input.

normal noise, wastegate. you just can here it now with the open air intake setup. It is the sound of Free flowing air! you have done an excellent upgrade. you may also notice "turbo surge" now if you're chipped, as I did. I did the "wicked wheel" conversion to fix that.

'97 and older PSD's don't have a wastegate.

The "wicked wheel" is the impeller that the 94-97's already have, stock.

Dave

Everyone swears its cheaper to get the intake from the dale guy but if you have a napa or big truck shop its a pretty simple job to do......literally took about 10 min and under half the cost of one from tymar

Nobody is saying you can't do it cheaper than the TYMAR (chunk of exhaust pipe and filter), but if you go out and purchase the same parts (including clamps, filter, elbow, hose, standoff clamp, etc.) that make up the TYMAR, it's easier to just get it all from Dale. That's what I'll be doing when I finally get one for the 97 (been there done that on 94). Cheers!

Plus a Napa isn't the correct filter and costs more than the Donaldson!
