upgraded intake?

Would like opinions good and bad on intake systems. I have heard Tymar, but like the idea of a heat shield like AFE. My kick against AFE, is it is made of steel instead of alum or stainless. Being next to the battery and acid, it's a rust prone area. Thanks for input.

Re: upgraded intake?

I like my Tymar intake. It works well and I don't think the heat shield like the AFE makes much difference.

Re: upgraded intake?

a second for tymar...i also dont think you are going to see much difference in EGT numbers with a heat shield...

Re: upgraded intake?

The AFEs are nice intakes. They are all powdercoated for a durable finish. If you have a leaking battery you should probably replace it anyway. The shield is near the battery but doesn't go up against it at all anywhere sothought it is possible it's highly unlikely that the acid will be an issue.

Re: upgraded intake?

I love my Tymar intake also. Oil analysis has shown very clean for me also.

Re: upgraded intake?

I have an AFE cuz I got wayway cheap. I like it. No rust or corrosion after 15 months. I would go with the Tymar if I'd had to pay retail for the AFE.
