What HPOP do I Need For Bean's Stage 2's?

Question: Will a 2002 17° HPOP supply enough oil for Bean's Stage 2 Injectors?

Do I need to consider a PULSE HPOP or is there a cheaper alternative if the 17° wont supply enough HP oil?

Thank You, Mark

This was cover in the above thread. And from what I see you should have upgraded fuel system. Maybe you have but I did not see this in your sig. If you plan not to upgrade that you need to do the pulse since you don't have to move fuel bowl. Any other "big oil" system you will need to upgrade the fuel system.

Re: What HPOP do I Need For Bean's Stage 2's?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I went and read the post you directed me to. I guess that I need to save for a PULSE.

No, I don't have an upgraded fuel system. From what you're saying, and from the other post, I guess that I need to upgrade that also.

Sounds like I'm starving my injectors for oil and fuel at higher RPMs.

I have a chance to get a used 17° HPOP for $150+ shipping. You think it's worth getting for temporary?

Re: What HPOP do I Need For Bean's Stage 2's?

You should be fine with stage 2's and a 17° pump. I had BDP stage 1's and a 15° that would not keep up, after I switched to a 17° pump I never set a CEL. 1's and 2's are both 160 cc injectors and have the same oil requirements, the only difference is the nozzles.

ThreeStarJR does 379hp/730tq with BPD 2's, D66 turbo, 17° pump, TW tunes and stock fuel.

97Strokerman has the same setup except he also has Beans fuel and does 391/740

Todd, the pulse may not be the "only" BO pump that that can keep the stock fuel filter/ stock fuel system in the OBS trucks.....A kit is being designed/R&D'ed as we speak by the stealth people that will let ALL OBS owners upgrade to big oil, keep the stock fuel, and then upgrade to aftermarket bigger fuel. 'course as you know, your not gonna get the biggest performance out of your injectors and big oil until the fuel is upgraded. Lucky for us Bean is the Vendor that has a complete upgrade fuel system for the OBS.

</div></div>Your not throwing the CEL because your tuner probably isn't asking for much ICP. With Stage2 splits, my 95 would hold 2400 psi, not bad, but bad enough.

That other Big Oil company has Medium Oil coming soon as well.

Re: What HPOP do I Need For Bean's Stage 2's?

I am setting CEL lights. I don't know if it is from over boosting or from low HP oil. (I PROBABLY have the original HPOP from 1997.)

I'm ordering a MAP sensor pressure regulator so it will only see 22 lbs boost.

I told that guy that I'd take the 2002 17° HPOP.

I chose the PULSE because they say it supplies oil for all known injectors of any size, it fits in the stock place and it is one of the cheapest BIG OIL systems that I have seen. It is getting great reviews and sound like it would be a good pupm.

The do-it-yourself fuel system looks interesting too. I had also read the article that used the Aeroquip parts to do a fuel system.

Thank you all,

I appreciate your help.

Good to know. I was not aware that there were any other ones that were on the market. I stand correct, and I am happy to know that there are more coming. I mean it is about time it has only been 10+ years.

Cary </div></div>Oh yes they do. My AutoE doesn't catch it, but Jody's NGS did. I kept throwing an over boost cold while LIVE tuning. Just re-adjusted the regulator, and was good to go.
