What are the issues with a 02 HPOP on a 95?

I seem to recall that people have said that I will have problems mounting a 02 HPOP on a 95 HPOP reservoir? Something to do with a check valve or something?

Can someone explain this to me?

I will be upgrading to some stage 2 or 3 injectors at some point and will probaly need to upgrade the HPOP at the same time so I am trying to collect info on what my buy list will have to be and what I my options are.

Would it be easier to just install a 20 degree pump or Stealth pump? (excluding cost considerations) Would I still need to modify or upgrade the reservoir?

thanks in advance!

Re: What are the issues with a 02 HPOP on a 95?

it is really easy. there are two fittings that the braided steel lines run to from the rails, when you buy the new pump you must reuse your old fitting, really really easy.
if i had to do it over i would go with the 20* pump cause the cost is not too much more for the amount of oil it will move. i have not thrown a cel with everything in my sig so thats pretty good, but i think it could use some more oil up top.

on a 95 you don't have a stand pipe biult into teh res cover, it will drain over 8 hours with a 02 pump on it. I do have a fix for it if you PM me.

Re: What are the issues with a 02 HPOP on a 95?

I'm using one of Nit's acumulator tanks on my '95 truck with my '01 pump, and it works perfectly! Send him an e-mail or PM him, and he can fix you up.
It's a simple install and works real slick!

Re: What are the issues with a 02 HPOP on a 95?

I have another fix: A Dual Pump System(Stealth or Terminator) will fix any and all issues. Best part is, Big Oil. I played with another little fix, seemed to work well if the vehicle was started every 10-12 days, any longer it would bleed down as well, but that's history. Good good..

thanks for the info fellas..

So, do the upgraded pumps need the same fix that Nit has or do they bypass the entire bleed down issue?

Re: What are the issues with a 02 HPOP on a 95?

Would this be the same on a '96. I recently purchased a humped hpop to upgrade my stocker, just wondering what to expect on the install.

Re: What are the issues with a 02 HPOP on a 95?

I am told that the bleeddown issue is only a factor on PRE 96 strokes.. The 96 and newer do NOT have this issue..

Lucky people..

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Re: What are the issues with a 02 HPOP on a 95?

You are correct, 94 and 95's only.

On the Dual pump kits, just specify you have a 95, and you will have no issues.
