Re: what power mods should i make?

I wish somebody would make up a list and just refer it everytime this is asked, here is the order I went in and would go in again:

Intake: Tymar is highly regarded around here

Exhaust: Round downpipe, and get rid of CAT/muffler if you do not have to go through emissions

Gauges: Pyro especially to watch EGT's and tranny temp if have a slushbox

Chip/Tuner: I have a single stage but alot of guys have 6postions

That will wake your ole' girl up alot and you can continue with injectors, more oil, intercooler, turbo, and all kinds of goodies but it gets $$$

Re: what power mods should i make?

Hmm.. Rather common question. we should make a faq or something.

Anyway step 1, GAUGES first. Then free flowing intake system, then free flowing exhaust and last, a multi position chip. All these things are available from may people, and I am sure you will get plenty of opinions on where to go and get them.

Step 2 would be some injectors (DIY or professional), possibly a SD HPOP, and last an intercooler.

Oh.. at this point you should be shopping for an upgraded clutch.

For your application, I would suggest going with the first step. Stock injectors are pretty safe, but if you want a little more bang, small performance injectors are pretty safe as well if you stick with stage 1's or less.

Oh.. get ready for lots of suggestions and such. Information is pretty generous around here.

good luck!

Sorry, automatic tranny, if you have a handshaker (manual) then guys usually dont put a tranny temp gauge on it...like I said, everyone has different views on what to do first, its up to you, I didnt have enough money to do anything really expensive...

Re: what power mods should i make?

I agree, and my next thought is, are you married? If so, this will be were your budget comes from. That is okay mind you, if she is not happy, we will not be happy! If not, then hammer down and get er done! It is great the downpipe is already doen, that is the suck one! Gauges are good, when I installed gauges, 2 days after I put in the chip, it made my knees feel weak and my hands shake. I had probobly overheated a couple of times!!! Not a good feeling. This was with exhaust and intake already done!! Enjoy, and if you go in the logical order every time, you will never have to take stuff off again because it was wrong!! Lastly, listen to these guys, when I started, I had Edge stuff, then found TDS and got great info, and went nuts!! Now my truck outpulls my friends with a 2000 and a 2001 SD. They are stock , and one with Edge Easy. A great feeling to be sure!! Enjoy and Welcome!!!
