What problems have you had with DIY INJECTORS?

Alright, who has dropped a nozzle, blew a motor, ruined a set of injectors or otherwise had issues with building your own injectors?
I'm considering this and the Super Duty guys seem to think you have to be GOD to build your own injectors.

What's up?

Re: What problems have you had with DIY INJECTORS?

Thats because the SD guys are a totally different crowd than us. Most of them are either playin with Daddies truck or got plenty cash to pay someone else to do it. Only a select few of them are the same breed as us guys. I just did the DIY injectors. If you have a good assortment of hand tools, pay attention and take your time, you should be fine. I didn't need them after the first one, but Jim's instructions and picture CD are top notch. You would have to break a few to add up to a prebuilt set's money. Remember even if you get a set from someone you are still paying for any damage thats in your injectors when they get sent back.

Re: What problems have you had with DIY INJECTORS?

Yeah, no problems here and truck runs better than ever. Other than the injector holder and the special bit for the poppet bolt you just need some basic tools.

I am sure several of us would give some helpful tidbits we used to make things easier.

I don't care if someone pays somebody for injectors it's no different than paying someone to put a lift kit on or mount a set of tires I just prefer to do the things I can myself and not pay someone's overhead if I don't have to.

Thanks guys. It's a shame that a lot of the Super Duty pretty boys are afraid to get their hands dirty.
Guess I should have bought an OBS

Whos says there afraid---money does make a difference(if I only had any).........what are you going to do about the spill port and slits in the plunger for the split shot injector. Are you turning the injectors into single shot injectors?

Oh and since you brought this down here for the good ol' OBS boys. Ill ask a question for them down here.

How would you feel about a guy selling you a bunch of performance parts that has NO IDEA about them other than reading on here about them. would you buy from beans or Dotts or someone that has problems with a boost relief valve and hasnt ever even had the valve covers off a PSD?

And to answer your PM no I dont have a problem with you at all and your welcome for the free advertising(just a hint though people like to view what they might wanna buy, not type in what there truck is then somone tell them what they should have). I just think its funny when someone asks all kids of questions about stupid stuff like BRV's and how they work and IAH delete mods and so on, and is trying to sell part from vendors. There have been a few tryand go into doing this and some succed but it darn near has to be there full time job in doing so.

ALSO,,,,most of the vendors have a shop to work out of or a LARGE GARAGE. And have built a PSD before. AND most of the vendors((((NOT ALL))) completly understand the system fundamentals of the engine to a T.

To answer your question Justin, I think that someone should be kicked off the forum for back door, non-sponser selling of anything, isn't that the forum rules? Thank you so much for pointing this out. Someone should link this thread up to the SD guys...........

Re: What problems have you had with DIY INJECTORS?

I'll clarify I posted here because the majority of the DIY injector kits have been used by OBS guys.
I felt I would get the best feedback, and it was the most relevant topic here.
