Could you fill in your signature with basic details of your rig so we know what you're driving?

There's a free programmer most on here can agree on that works best for fuel mileage. I think it's called an EGG-Foot or somethin like that;
Has to do w/ applying pressure to right pedal as if there were an egg under it.
LOL that was FREE!
anyhow, yes, fill in your sig and the replies will come.

welcome.

Treefitty97 -- Howdy and welcome to TheDieselStop.com!

A chip is generally better than a programmer because of the customization available. A programmer, generally speaking, is a one-size-fits-all approach.

On a completely stock truck, I'd almost recommend a customized PCM tuned for fuel economy to avoid the potential of damaging the powertrain.

"Best" is such a subjective term in the diesel performance world... You ask five people what 'the best' is and you'll get about four different answers.

Cheers from Claremore, OK!
Dave

Welcome to the site ! I am no pro, but have owned alot of Powerstrokes over the years. In my opinion, before you spend any money on programming, you should free up the power you aleady have. Open up the intake and exhaust and you will be pleased with the power increase. Then, once you get over the new power/sound, your mileage should increase a bit.

i just bout the edge evolution programmer and it made a world of diffrence in my truck. it also has the ability to read and erase codes when your check engine light comes on and will show you what each code means. it also shows 0 to 60 time and 1/4 mile times and will show you some of the engine rpm exhaust back pressure, line pressure etc..

I agree with caryt, a programmer is not near as nice as a chip. And if you want my opinion on the best chip, which everyone has one...

DP-TUNER
Your welcome jody

Dave has got it right...opinions are like buttcracks, everyone has one and they all stink.

I have a DP tuner...I like it. I don't think you can go wrong with the DP tuner or TW.
