What programs are you Stage1 guys running?

Looking for some input here. I'm looking for input on Tony's programs as well as Jody's. I'm looking for a program that will make my stage 1's act like a STOCK INJECTORED truck with a hot program. Basically I need a program that allows me to make pretty decent power (maybe a little more than what a maxed out stock injector can do) that isn't go to blow black when you push it down. I don't mind smoke but want to keep it to a minimum...especially in the bottom end. I know I can get Tony to tweak my chip, but I think it would be easier and quicker to find out from you guys what you are running. I'm pretty happy with postion 3 and 4 but I need to get #2 which is my daily driver position hammered out. I have considered switching to a DP-Tuner chip as well, so input on both of these guys programs would be appreciated.
Jerry

Dan,
Can you tell me more about your Tow and Econ setting? How is the power and the smoke.
Jerry

I don't have stages, pretty much stock.... but what I have been playing with is some different settings on my TW chip.

Econ - seems to be doing quite well, not sure if it is part of the programming, but it stays in 3rd to about 2000 rpm, then switches to 4th. Its a smooth transition. Not as quiet as stock mode.

Daily - idles smoother than Econ, and has a bit more perk. I like this one a lot. And it does wonderful while pulling a 14,000 horse trailer.

Tow mode - Not sure about this one yet, seems like Daily works just as good, but with a bit more pep. I ended up switching back and forth in the mountains, and I think there are shifting differences. Not sure yet, still learning.

No added smoke on any of the modes, which is great.

( I would love to know more details about all of Tony's modes...)

Jerry- I have the same results as Equine guy, accept my tow differs from daily driver in that it shifts at higher RPM, so Im hangin on to the gears a little longer. The good thing is you tell him what you want and he does it, if its not EXACTLY what you want send it back and he'll make it happen.

Hey Jerry,

I too have TW files and as I recall he doesn't rate by HP. Mine are econo which is low hp with no smoke with the mods I have. 2 is a tow program with little smoke and good EGT's 3 is a DD which will smoke lugging or if I get on it. 4. is a race program that hauls great but does smoke a bunch even when I get ontop the Turbo (spooled) and the fuel peddle is quite sensitive to input off the line.....Thinking your best bet would be to give him a shout....do you have an auto or ZF-5? I can look in the shop tomorrow for the actual names of the files if you like.

Is your truck manual or auto. It takes more driver effort to make a manual not smoke and make an auto smoke.

You could be asking for something that will take Live Tuning or more reburns. By all means ask DP/Jody if he can burn a chip that will do that or what it will take.

Thanks guys for the input. I have the 5 speed and already have a chip from Tony. He has been great to work with. He has reburned my chip a few time so far, but I figured I would see what programs others had...hoping to find a person with the saem setup that had already worked out a program that controlled the smoke well at lower boost levels, etc.
Like I said, Tony is great, I am not knocking his programming. I was just trying to save the hassle of mailing the chip back and forth until I got the program the way I wanted, as I know it is hard to write a program based on info like, "I need a little less smoke in the bottom end" That is very subjective and a "little smoke" to one guy is a blazing forest fire to another.
That's the other reason I am toying with a chip from Jody. I believe he recently tuned a truck similar to mine that was looking for the same type of results, so I may just drop another 400 on another chip.
Jerry
