what tubing to use for intercooler install?

I bought a 6.0 intercooler and was wondering what piping I should be using? Summit racing has sections of exhaust tubing in all sorts of shapes and sizes. What size OD do I need?

Simple observation - do you really want somebody else's guess or dimensions based on what they might have in their truck? Don't get me wrong, it is good to ask questions but you need to work with what you have as there is always a chance of variations that will cause headaches. You are a technician, do you have a Vernier caliper? Measure the OD on all of the inlets and outlets pairing them accordingly. Use those dimensions before ordering.

you can do like i done if you can weld

buy couple of 90 and 45 degree bends and 3 inch pipe order 4, 3 inch 4 inches long hoses and 8 stainless steel clamps. go ford dealer and get the 2 hoses thet connect the intercooler to the 3 inch intercooler pipes

if you need a little twinking for slite bends go to your friendly muffler shop snd get your intercooler pipes bent

also somepeople i know bought from ford the 99 intercooler pipe and used the old hacksaw and it worked perrty good

for the 6.0 IC you will need a 3.25" to 3" coupler for the pass-side of the IC. the piping is all 3". make the pipe in 2 pcs presides. it makes it easyer to work on the truck when just have to take the top have of the pipe off.

Does anybody have problems with the hoses sliding off of the tubes where they have been cut when the turbo is making boost? Thanks for your help, Eric.

yes, but solved the problem by cleaning with brake cleaner and tightin the clamp as tight as you dare, any oil no matter how slight will cause them to blow off

when i get a chance am going to weld a bead around the pipe about an inch from the end and then i dont think will have that problem again

am making about 38 lbs and no problem

Also doing the CCV mod, helps to stop any amount of oil from the crankcase to the intercooler.
