Why would you shim your front bumper?

Re: who has shimmed thier front bumper?

to keep it from sagging in. Sometimes, when the truck gets in a bind, the front tires rub the bumper and pull it down some. Shimming the bumper pushes it away from the tires.

Re: who has shimmed thier front bumper?

Just take the bumper off and take the bolts in with you, then when you get home, reinstall the bumper..

Re: who has shimmed thier front bumper?

Re: who has shimmed thier front bumper?

I just put my bumper on using brackets I bought off Ebay.
They were NOT 5/8", that's HUGE, did you mean you used a 5/8" wrench?

I think the bolts I used were 3/8" coarse thread.

My bumper was in the bed of the truck when I bought it, I had to hammer, rubout, weld, and make it work to fit to the brackets (cut off with a torch for a winch bumper that was then removed by the P/O)

SO, I've never seen the stock bumper bolts.... but I know the 3/8 fit the holes.
I would say 2" length would work fine, no problem if they are too long!

Yep! Chances are that there won't be a bumper left to worry about when Dave get's back...
