Re: Who's the guy with the OBS converted to dually?
Wondering if you changed the rear axle and springs to the dually setup or did you just use the adaptors? How about the rear fenders? Did you change anything up front? I ran across a post just a few weeks ago, and one guy had a black OBS truck that he converted. I believe it was a short bed which looked great! Mine is also a short bed.
I'm looking to pick up some "legitimate" towing capacity for a 5th wheel. Motor has plenty of power, just don't want to overload the axles.
Main thing.... just looking for some insight into the conversion. I really don't want a new body style truck.
Thanks in advance!

Brian,
You are the one I was looking for, but I thought that you changed yours to a dually, not the other way. By the way, is the rear end in your truck, the dually rear end?

Re: Who's the guy with the OBS converted to dually?
I just used the adapters, as I have a dedicated tow rig for the heavy haul stuff.
I was not looking for more carrying capacity, but I think the springs would do fine if you were to add a multi-leaf overload in place of the single-leaf factory overload. There is a member on here who has all the info on GVW/GCVW--I think named "Smokey Wren".
I looked for over a year for a dually rear end, with no luck, so I went with the Arrowcraft adapters.
As far as the bed goes,I located a bed from a 97 4X2 dually and bolted it on.
The front axle was easy as I simply changed the bearing hubs, the rotors interchange between 4X4 SRW and 4X4 DRW.
Hope this helps.

Re: Who's the guy with the OBS converted to dually?
I converted mine to dually several years ago to haul a large truck camper then converted it back when I got rid of the camper.
Regardless of what everyone claims I noticed NO difference in stability with the duals compared to singles...just felt better knowing a single rear tire blowout wouldn't roll me. Truck felt fine with singles and felt fine with duals although it did tend to wiggle track more in interstate truck ruts worn by big rigs.
Ya know if the WHOLE truck was as wide as dually fenders I'd probably own one, but I don't like the butt of the truck sticking out.....

Yea,stock rear end.I'm using a 2" billet steel spacer to put the tires out in the fender.
